Not entirely true - there are definitely some changes
And some implied modifications to the athletic budget. As a state institution, those are significant. While it lacked details, this wasn't just a fund raising initiative. Obviously, that was part of it, but it also will represent a change of direction in terms of the school budget.
Acknowledgement of the economic impact VT Football (and athletics in general) has on SWVA is also significant. When you are looking at a 100 million dollar impact, then it moves from "we should" to "we must" and the battleship starts to turn.
It won't be overnight, but I do believe what we heard is indeed a recognition that VT has been sitting on its hands for the last 6-8 years (maybe even more) and that we have been passed by even the middle of the road teams.
As the old mantra says, "the first step to recovery is admitting there is a problem." I felt like that was accomplished as well as some legitimate goals established. Ambitious goals but in sync with what I believe the majority of the alumni and fanbase want.
